floral + plaid.......

While mixing medias is certainly fun, who doesn't like wearing their silk with some fur or lace with some wool, the best fun you can have getting dressed is mixing prints.
Plaid and floral anyone?

There are plenty of rules, mix prints in the same colour family, mix small with large, work similiar prints with each other (dots on dots, stripes on stripes etc.), and plenty more, trust me google it. And while they're all valid, I'm still sticking with my fashion should be fun rule. Want to wear your plaid shirt over a floral dress, a polka dot shirt with a floral maxi, a striped bereton with leopard print skinnies, then, as the quite well known sports conglomerate is known to say, just do it!

I've kept things a little low key here, breaking it up with black skinnies, but frankly, as I said, I think the key to mixing it up is just have fun. I dragged these shoes from the back of my shoe-robe, and I've a sneaking suspicion they are going to be quite popular this spring/summer. Provided I don't have to walk great distances in them, a little on the pinchy side, as vintage is wont to do.

Hope you're having a great week!

currently crushing: sophia webster...........

You're probably doing ok if you graduate from the Royal College of Art and your final student collection is picked up by London institution Browns. And you're probably doing more than ok if you spend the first two years out of school working with Nicholas Kirkwood. If Nicholas Kirkwood then helps you to launch you own label,
it's safe to say you are doing amazing.
Sophia Webster is doing amazing. Her shoes are pretty cool too!

"Welcome to the Dollhouse" was the theme of her first full collection, which she showed in London in September. Model dressed as 'dolls' in Sophia doll boxes, with plenty of extra shoes and bags for accessorizing of course.
Inspired by Aztec prints and Brazilian landscapes, the collection was a brilliant mix of colour and prints.
Neon pops, with stripes, pom poms and polka dots. A digital coloured leopard print, Brazilian house prints and my personal fave, some seriously good Aztec prints.

Frankly if you're going to wear shoes, and it's becoming more and more common that establishments are demanding you do, you might as well have some fun with it. And if you can't have a good time rocking these kicks, I don't know when you can!

more burgundy + owls......

Two things I love, burgundy (it's getting a little ridiculous now) and owls!
Picked up these pants at Sportsgirl, (on sale!!), a little while ago now, looking forward to giving them more of a workout as the weather warms up. The shirt is a Kirby Bee original, and honestly it doesn't get anywhere near the wear it deserves. That seems to be a reoccurring theme, I seem to wear my favourites over and over again and unfortunately that means that some really cool stuff just sits in my wardrobe, waiting and waiting to get its moment of glory. So in an effort to give those babies what they deserve I'm going to make a concerted effort to wear things that I normally skip over, you never know I just might discover a whole new set of favourites.

Hope you're having a great week!

how i'd wear: leather pants........

Leather pants are the shit and you can take that to the bank.
And when you get to the bank take out some cash and snap yourself up some leathers, you won't regret it.
They are fast becoming a wardrobe staple, the new jeans if you will. But where denim has and always will carry that edge of casual, leather pants can be dressed up stepping right into very cool,
very elegant and even (gasp) sexy territory.
Frankly if it's good enough for the Terminator, it's good enough for me!

So, as any good little fashionista is want to do, I found myself an amazing pair of leathers and created some equally amazing looks. The pants are by Balmain (sorry I couldn't help myself, serious Balmain lover right here!) and you can find them at Net-A-Porter right here.

So look one, chilling at home with your peeps/dogs/folks, circle where appropriate. Rocking a Bassike hoodie - do hoodies get any cooler than Bassike! Some Converse, no explanation needed here, ASOS leather cap and a Dannijo necklace because casual doesn't mean no neck candy.

Look two, maybe your heading to work (aren't you lucky that you can wear leathers to work),
or out to lunch, a spot of shopping, a gig? Whatever works for you.
Sleeveless denim shirt from Forever New, leather and denim yes please! The orange loafers are from Wittner, loving the orange/black mix. Throw in the 3.1 Phillip Lim 'The Break-Up' pouch and some awesome retro styling Prada sunnies and you have what I like to call upmarket casual, still casual just a little loftier.

Last but certainly not least we have dressed up, classed up, sexied up.
Cliche as it may be to wear red and leather, I'm still putting them together, cliches aren't all bad.
Classic white shirt from Mui Mui, with a little collar fun. Which does double duty here, collar fun equals no need for necklace and also turns what could be a slightly boring white shirt into a whole lotta fun.
Red pumps are from Christian Louboutin, like the Converse no explanation needed here.
The earrings are from Forever New, very into the almost clash of a brilliant green and a bright red.
And the gold sequined bag is by Fun and can be found at the Iconic.

Now if, like me unfortunately, your leather pants budget doesn't quite stretch to Balmain,
ASOS is doing some reasonably priced real and faux here, here and here.
Topshop here and Shopbop here and here.
Aren't we just spoilt for choice!

skulls + candy colours..........

So I'm just slightly addicted to skulls, not gothic witchy skulls, the skulls I love are more McQueen than McCreepy. Whatever you're wearing, put a skull on it and it's automatically at least sixty percent cooler,
that may or may not be a made up statistic.
This orange skull covered clutch is a new addition, and as is my style I paired it with some purple heels, some green and blue and some awesome DIY jeans.

Hope you've had a brilliant start to the week!

denim + statement........

A white tee, some torn up denim, heels and a big statement hanging around my neck, just perfect.
Simple to wear. simple to own, just simple and just perfect.

My apologies for my lack of posting, but my attention has been captured by the incredibly captivating Game of Thrones, not the television series the books! I've been spending those hours not consumed by work and sleep reading, devouring page after page. I'm only two books in, with four to go, so I fear the lack of posts may linger a little longer. Bear with me, I will return to regular programing!

Also daylight savings kicked off last night/this morning. So warm summer nights, filled with friends, folly and cider are not too far away. This brings a smile to my face, it's been a long cold winter down under and I'm certainly ready for some hot summer fun!

Happy Sunday!!

currently crushing: tweed.......

Despite that fact that Australia is hurtling towards summer, I can't seem to stop thinking about all things tweed. To be honest tweed has had a little piece of my heart for some time. Perhaps it's due to my Scottish ancestry. Or maybe it's just because it's enduringly cool, Sherlock Holmes rocked it, so did Mr Toad in Wind in the Willows and Indiana Jones Dad. If those peeps don't do it for you how about Coco Chanel, a tweed fan way back in the 1920's.
So get your tweed on and check out these gorgeous pieces.

A jaunty little hat by Burberry Prorsum, an Aubin & Wills blazer, some absolutely amazing boots by Erdem, a sleeveless blazer by Thakoon, a Barbour tweed mini Beaufort bag from ASOS and some must have geo tweed trousers from Topshop.

And to think if it wasn't for some shoddy handwriting we'd be saying tweel instead of tweed!
